Question 1

How do I book a picnic?

Accepted Answer

Simply message us on Instagram (@picnicdates.rva) or Facebook to get started. We'll ask a few questions about your vision, confirm your date and location, and handle everything from there.

Question 2

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

We recommend booking at least 1–2 weeks in advance to ensure your preferred date and location are available. For proposals and larger celebrations, 2–4 weeks is ideal. Last-minute requests are welcome — just reach out and we'll do our best!

Question 3

What days and times are you available?

Accepted Answer

We're available 7 days a week. Picnics are typically scheduled during daylight hours to make the most of Richmond's beautiful outdoor settings. We'll work with you to find a time that fits your schedule.

Question 4

Do you require a deposit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due before your picnic date. We'll share full payment details when you reach out to book.

Question 5

What's included in the setup?

Accepted Answer

Every experience includes a luxury clear canopy tent, low picnic table, floor cushions and blankets, full dinnerware (plates, glasses, cutlery), decorative elements, and a 2-hour reservation. Higher packages include additional décor, welcome signs, and premium tablescapes.

Question 6

How long does the picnic last?

Accepted Answer

Standard picnics are a 2-hour reservation. Need more time? Just let us know when booking and we can discuss extended time options.

Question 7

Do you provide food?

Accepted Answer

We don't provide meals, but we do offer a charcuterie/dessert board add-on ($30) and a cake add-on ($25 + cost of cake). We're also happy to pick up from a local restaurant at an additional cost. You're welcome to bring your own food, drinks, and any treats you'd like to enjoy during your experience.

Question 8

Can I bring my own decorations?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! You're welcome to bring additional personal touches. Just let us know in advance so we can incorporate them seamlessly into the setup.

Question 9

Do you stay during the picnic?

Accepted Answer

No — we set everything up before you arrive and return to pack it all down after your reservation ends. Your picnic is completely private and all yours to enjoy.

Question 10

Where do you set up picnics?

Accepted Answer

Private properties are our specialty — we bring the experience to you. We set up at backyards, patios, inside your home, Airbnbs and vacation rentals (with host approval), and approved private venues or family properties. We also offer preferred countryside venues in the Hanover/Ashland area, and can style public parks throughout Richmond and surrounding areas case by case. Public parks may require a permit, and additional charges may apply.

Question 11

Do you set up at private homes and backyards?

Accepted Answer

Yes — this is what we love most. We come directly to your home, backyard, patio, or any private outdoor space. You don't need to go anywhere. We arrive, set everything up beautifully, and leave before you step outside to enjoy it.

Question 12

Can you set up at a rooftop or non-traditional space?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Rooftops, patios, gardens, pool decks — if you have the space and the vision, we'll make it work. Just share the details when you book and we'll plan accordingly.

Question 13

Do I need to do anything to prepare my space?

Accepted Answer

Not much at all. Just let us know the general layout and any access details (gate codes, parking, etc.) when you book. As long as it's accessible and clear, we are good to go! We handle all the setup and will leave your space exactly as we found it after cleanup.

Question 14

What happens if it rains?

Accepted Answer

We monitor weather forecasts closely leading up to your picnic. If rain is expected, we'll reach out to discuss rescheduling options. Your experience and safety are always our top priority.

Question 15

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

We understand that plans change. Please reach out as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. We'll share our full cancellation policy details when you book.

Question 16

Can I reschedule my picnic?

Yes! Life happens. Reach out to us as early as possible and we'll do our best to find a new date that works for you, subject to availability.
